The history behind the card

It was initially designed 20 years ago and is now among the most innovative innovations within the company. It was in 2001 when the Laguna II, a saloon aimed at embodying 'lifestyle' driving, was introduced into production. It was a time of great innovation with numerous new technology features which helped customers take advantage of their vehicle to the fullest.
However, the passengers of these cars had to utilize keys to open and close their doors. Renault engineers determined that this was a significant issue for a lot of people.
The result was that they decided to integrate the use of a contactless keycard into their vehicles. They then developed the system that would allow users to unlock and start their vehicles by simply waving hands. The result is the card key, which is currently found on a third of Renault vehicles. The car will automatically unlock when the card is near the ignition barrel, or even the centre console. This is an original Renault remote control card (without blade). The keyless entry system
The hands-free card from Renault was an innovative piece of technology when it was first introduced 20 years ago. The exterior of the card is identical however the technology has been upgraded to make it easier to use and harder to hack.
It isn't able to be used from outside to unlock doors or start the car unless the driver turns it on.
